Terms of use

Your account

An account is personal to you. You can create one yourself, or from an invitation somebody sends you. Keep your password to yourself, and tell us at support@taralets.club if you think somebody else has it. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

Being invited to a trip lets you take part in that trip, with whatever role you were given. Starting trips of your own is a separate matter from your role in anybody else’s: a co-organizer has full co-organizer powers inside the trip they were invited to whether or not they ever start one. Every account may start trips, and Taralets may withdraw that from an account that misuses it — which does not affect trips that already exist or your part in anybody else’s.

What you put in

You retain the rights you have in the documents, photos, notes and other content you upload or create. Taralets processes that content to provide, secure and operate the service — storing it, and showing it to you and to the people your settings allow. It is not sold, not used for advertising, and not used to train anything. See Privacy for who can see what.

Only upload things you have the right to upload, and do not upload another person’s private or confidential information without their agreement.

Using it properly

Do not use Taralets to:

• break the law, or help somebody else break it;
• reach accounts, trips or content that are not yours, or attempt to get around the controls that decide who sees what;
• upload malware or anything designed to damage the service or its users;
• pretend to be somebody else;
• harass, threaten or abuse anyone;
• share another person’s private or confidential information without proper authority;
• infringe anyone else’s rights.

Sharing a trip

An invitation admits one person, once, and stops working after that or when it expires. There are two kinds, and the difference matters.

If the organizer sent it to an email address, that address is the only one that can accept it — signing in as anybody else is refused.

If the organizer handed out a copyable link instead, it is tied to no address, so whoever opens it gets in. Treat that kind like a key: send it only to the person it is meant for, and make a separate link for each new person rather than forwarding one.

Owners and co-organizers can remove a member, and removing them ends their access immediately.

Paying for a trip

Planning a trip is free, and stays free. What you pay for is opening a trip up to other people — inviting anyone, keeping a shared travel fund, storing documents and receipts, saving photos, and posting announcements. A trip nobody else has been brought into needs no pass.

A Trip Pass is a one-time purchase that permanently unlocks one trip, named when you redeem it. An Organizer Pass is a one-time purchase that lets you unlock trips you own — those you already have and those you start later — for one year from the day you redeem it.

Neither pass is a subscription and neither renews itself. Nothing is charged again unless you buy another one. When an Organizer Pass’s year ends, every trip it unlocked stays unlocked; what ends is the ability to unlock further trips with it. A trip you start after that is free again, and can be opened either with a new Organizer Pass or with a Trip Pass of its own.

A pass unlocks the trip it is applied to and nothing else. Being invited to somebody else’s unlocked trip does not unlock trips of your own, whatever role you were given.

Passes are sold through Gumroad, which acts as merchant of record: Gumroad takes the payment, issues the receipt and handles any sales tax or VAT, under Gumroad’s own terms. The price you pay is the one shown at their checkout. Taralets never sees or stores your card details — what it receives is the licence key, which it records as a one-way hash so that it can only be used once.

Because a pass is delivered digitally and unlocks the trip immediately, all sales are final and non-refundable. Taralets is free to plan with, and we would rather you used it that way first to be sure it suits you. If a pass did not unlock, you were charged twice, or something else went wrong with the purchase, write to support@taralets.club and we will help put it right.

Prices can change. A change never affects a trip that is already unlocked.

Money

Taralets records what the group says it spent and calculates balances and suggested settlements from those records. That calculation is a shared record of what the group entered — not an independent determination of what anyone legally owes. Taralets does not hold, move or process money, it is not an accounting or tax record, and settling up happens between you.

This is separate from paying for a trip, above: money between travellers is recorded here and settled between you, and nothing in a trip’s ledger is ever charged by Taralets.

What Taralets is not

Taralets is a tool for planning and coordinating a trip. It is not a booking agent, a travel agency, a travel insurer or a source of travel advice, and it does not operate flights, hotels, tours, transport or insurance. Anything you book, buy or arrange is between you and that provider, and Taralets is not responsible for what they do or fail to do.

Availability

Taralets is provided as it is, without warranty. It may be unavailable at times, whether planned or not, and features may change, be added or be withdrawn.

Keep your own copies

Keep independent copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. A passport scan stored here should not be your only one.

Services Taralets relies on

Taralets runs on third-party infrastructure and services that are necessary to operate it. Those providers have their own terms and privacy policies, which govern their part of the arrangement. Privacy names them and explains what they do.

Ending it

You can ask for your account to be deleted at any time by writing to support@taralets.club. Because trips are shared, deleting your account does not delete the trips you were on: ownership passes to a remaining member, and the group’s financial record stays intact with your account no longer attached to it. Delete anything you want erased before you go — Privacy explains all of this in full.

Access may be suspended or an account closed where this is reasonably necessary — for a material breach of these terms, unlawful or unauthorised activity, abuse of other people, a threat to the security or integrity of the service, or another legitimate operational or security reason. Where it is reasonable and lawful to do so, you will be told why.

Changes

If these terms change, the date above changes with them. Where a change materially affects you, you will be told in the app before it takes effect.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines.
